Micro Clean

Micro Clean

Produced for Commercial & Industrial Applications

Micro-Clean™ is a combination of a natural organic dispersant and a bacteria mix that removes and bioremediates hydrocarbon contamination from any solid surfaces. The dispersant removes the hydrocarbon by deceasing it's surface tension, thus forming microscopic spherical droplets. These microscopic droplets are quickly bioremediated by the bacteria due to their increased surface area. The digestion begins as soon as Micro-Clean™ is applied and continues after the product is washed from the surface. The final by-products are fatty-acids, water and CO2.

Micro-Clean™ can be used on any solid surface to quickly remediate short and long chained hydrocarbons such as grease, oil, fuel and hydraulic fluid:

  1. Engines, compressors, pumping units, heavy road machinery, asphalt equipment, mining equipment, factories, etc.
  2. Spills on and staining of soils and/or concrete and streets.  Contaiminated cuttings associated with oil based mud systems!  Oil film and sludge associated with evaporation and settling ponds.
  3. Surfaces in and around fueling and maintenance areas.
  4. Parts washers, hot tanks, pressure washers, heated pressure washers, etc. In a recent test, plastic resin as well as fire and diesel soot, were cleaned from work bay walls that had been heavily coated from an enclosed fire. A high pressure washer was used in this application.
  5. Hydrocarbon soot on buildings, again using a high pressure, hot water, sprayer.
  6. Chewing gum on sidewalks, utilizing a high pressure sprayer.
  7. Leaking Valves.
  8. Fire Walls.
  9. Water Fowl contaminated with oil.

Since all of the Micro-Clean™ components are naturally occurring, they are environmentally friendly. They will be reduced to normal background levels when the contamination (food source) is completely digested, or will remain active in soils, beneath leaking components, until the hydrocarbon material can be spent. The bacterial levels will then fade into a background situation.

Micro-Clean™ should first be diluted at the ratio of at least 20 to 1 with water.  One gallon in water will clean approximately 500 sq ft of beach or rocks.

It is best applied using a heated pressure sprayer. After approximately five to fifteen minutes, the product is washed off using water under pressure. Heavy accumulations of contamination or stubborn stains may require several applications and/or scrubbing with a brush.

Micro-Clean™
Case Histories For Use

Setting: Heated Pressure Washers (Hotsy, Karsch, etc.)

Use: Cleaning Concrete, Equipment and Parts of Hydrocarbons and Soil Accumulations

Objective: Remove these accumulations quickly and economically

Normal Operational Procedures Prior to Micro-Clean™:

The heated pressure washers normally utilize soaps, high pressure and 180 to 200 degree (82 to 93 C) temperatures in order to remove hydrocarbon and sediment accumulations from equipment, parts, surfaces and concrete floors. Due to the difficulty in breaking the bond between the surfaces and the accumulations, each project can involve a great amount of man hours. The soaps used are normally very alkaline or very caustic and tend to only melt these accumulations while leaving residue on parts and surfaces. These work areas usually are slick when wet. As these fluids leave the work area, they tend to accumulate in sumps or collections systems and solidify. These systems can be expensive to pump due to the rapidity and size of the emulsions that build. These emulsions tend to consist of water, hydrocarbons, suspended sediment and suspended solids. Depending upon the amount of water content, the surcharge to haul the waste away can be very expensive.

Operation Procedures with the Micro-Clean™:

The working procedures now involve lower temperatures 120 to 140 degrees (48 to 60C), lower pressures, less time, or fewer man hours and less product. The  Micro-Clean™ breaks the chemical bond between the surfaces and the hydrocarbons upon contact. The separation between the oils and sediment begins immediately and continues as the fluids travel through the system. Micro-Clean™ breaks the water and sediment away from the hydrocarbons upon contact. The bacterial component begins the bioremediation processes immediately and continues while in contact with the hydrocarbons and as well as in the proper environment. Even though most of our clients are impressed with the immediate cleaning and separation activity, the bioremediation aspects have been secondary, if that important. However, as the EPA and other regulatory agencies bring more rules to bear on the historical practices in different industries, the bioremediation properties of the Micro-Clean™ product will gain more understanding, priority and market acceptance. As described in the product brief, the product consists of only natural components and proprietary processes and as such is viewed in very favorable terms by knowledgeable regulatory agencies. A safety issue that can be observed from the first use, relates to floors that are slippery when wet. With Micro-Clean™, the floors become clean of accumulations that normally are slick when wet.

Micro-Clean™
Case Histories For Use

Setting: Engine Parts Repair

Use: Parts Washers

Objective: To clean parts of oils, greases and sediments

Normal Operational Procedures Prior to Micro-Clean™:

Most parts washer utilize solvents, such as mineral spirits, in commercial auto and engine repair shops. These systems are also used in maintenance operations for transportation and hauling operations, such as bus barns, mines, and fills, etc. These parts washers usually require fluid change regularly, such as every 30 days. The fluid is hauled for cleaning and/or disposal. The disposed fluid is a hazardous waste and needs to be disposed accordingly. Any part cleaned in the mineral spirits needs to be blown dry and can be susceptible to flash rust. Certain soft metal parts cannot be cleaned in these type solvents or dramatic deterioration will occur. In many states, these type of solvents are being legislated out of use and the water based replacement solutions have been ineffective. Reports from experts in the field have found that the water-based solvents have caused abrasive reactions with both rubber and metal parts in the machinery.

Operational Procedures with the Micro-Clean™:

The Micro-Clean™ has been used in parts washers for intervals as long and longer than the mineral spirits and cleans more effectively when measured against the entire time fram of this fluid, including wash, dry and wipe times. Unlike other water-based systems, there has been no corrosion, no flash-rust, little water required (after a brief break-in period), no abrasion to rubber parts and no affect to soft metal parts. The fluid in the washer tends to be in three distinct phases: water and minor amounts of both oil on  and sediment on the bottom. There have been no distinct odors. The product is undergoing detailed evaluation by major manufacturers as this kind of solution is needed now in many states where the solvents are outlawed.

Micro-Clean™
Case Histories For Use

Setting: Cabinet Washers

Use: Cleaning Major Engine Components

Objective: To clean engine blocks, etc, in preparation for rebuilding

Normal Operation Procedures Prior to Micro-Clean™:

The cabinet washers that are used by mechanics and machine shops to clean these major engine components prior to being rebuilt, normally use soaps or mineral spirits. These solutions have limited use because they tend to break down with the use of heat in the units. These units can take a limited amount of additional soap due to the buildup that quickly occurs. When this happens, the unit has to be cleaned of debris. The operating temperatures are usually set in the range of 180 (82 C) degrees plus. When a unit has rust occur or when a washer has been out of service for any extended period of time, the problems with the rust tend to build quickly.

Operational Procedures with the Micro-Clean™:

The hot tanks that are using the Micro-Clean™ have shown the following:

The units operate at temperatures of from 110 to 120 (43 to 48 C) degrees with the same or better results as previous solutions, including mineral spirits and water-based. The units clean carbon build-up from hands at these temperatures.

There is usually no flash rust on the components unless the unit has been out of service for an extended period of time. In that case, one or two wash cycles with a minor amount of the Micro-Clean™ will purge the system of any rust. After a brief break-in period, there is little or no water loss.

Any oil washed from the component will be bioremediated. In some cases, there has been such little oil washed into the system that some oil is added weekly to keep the microbes in an optimum environment. There is no residue on the metal parts.

Rust observed on parts going into the unit has been removed.

The soft metal parts that normally respond negatively to other solutions have no response to the Micro-Clean™.

CHEWING GUM REMOVAL WITH Micro-Clean™

Chewing gun is composed mainly of a colloidal polysaccharide. This organic compound exhibits extreme adsorptive ability.

Micro-Clean™ which contains a powerful biological solvent-surfactant, as well as enzyme producing microbes, breaks down the cohesiveness of the polysaccharide. The enzymes produced by the microbes then digest the polysaccharide. The end products of digestion are short-chained fatty acids, CO2 and water.

Since chewing gum will be found in different variations in the environment (i.e., dried or baked onto hard surfaces, such as sidewalks), the Micro-Clean™ must be applied differently in each case.

Dried or baked on gum is best removed with a heated pressure washer. Micro-Clean™ is diluted 25 to 1 and sprayed onto the gum under high pressure at 120°F (48°C). This allows the Micro-Clean to penetrate the dried gum and liquefy it. The microbes then digest it over time. The liquefied gum can then be washed down into the storm drain, since the microbes are environmentally safe and not any form of a chemical. The microbes will continue to digest the gum as it travels along in the storm drain.

Moist or sticky gum can be removed by applying a 25 to 1 solution of Micro-Clean™
to the gum and simply wiping it off. The longer the Micro-Clean can sit on the gum, the better it works. Always keep the area moist.
